Skill Building
Skill building helps youth and adults address risk factors, build resiliency, resist peer pressure, and communicate effectively. Prevention Partners accomplishes this through four strategic programs.

  • BKO-Business Partnership to Knock Out Drug and Alcohol Abuse workplace presentations
  • Natural Helpers-Peer helper training
  • Youth to Youth-Group facilitator training
  • TWYKAA-Talking With Your Kids About Alcohol
  • Bright Futures-Teen leader training

    Community Empowerment and Mobilization
    We help neighborhood and community groups address alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse issues. These groups include:

  • Monroe County community groups
  • City neighborhood organizations
  • School and community coalitions
  • Other counties as requested

    Raising Awareness
    We influence community standards through many outlets in support of healthy lifestyles:

  • Network and Rochester Youth to Youth Connections newsletters
  • Resource Center and Lending Library-pamphlets, books, videos, periodicals, posters, programs, on-line computer information, and research materials
  • Drugs Lie media campaign
  • Prevention Extension resource vehicle
  • Not Me, Not Now teen pregnancy prevention campaign
  • Red Ribbon Celebration
  • Eckerd Drug Quiz Show

    Alternative Activities
    We also create and support alternative activities for youth that foster positive behaviors and resiliency. Some of the most popular activities include:

  • R.A.Y.S. (Rochester Area Youth Shine) Youth to Youth conference
  • Youth to Youth clubs
  • Drug Free Youth advisory board
  • Safe Night

    Advocacy
    We help provide a community-centered forum for information sharing and discussion of issues related to alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse through co-sponsorships.

    Mentoring and Role Modeling for Youth
    We train drug-free youth to be positive leaders in their schools and communities through diverse efforts.
